Privacy Policy

Shoppers Retreat, LLC ("Shoppers Retreat", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information our website and app collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language because many of the people we serve are older adults and their families.

Short version: Your account, reminders, lists, and contacts are stored only in your own web browser. When you order groceries or search for laundromats, your address goes to Google Maps to find nearby places, and payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card number. We count visits anonymously and keep anonymous survey answers. We do not sell your information, and we do not use advertising trackers.

1. Information you give us

Account details: your name, email address, password, and chosen membership plan when you become a member.
Profile photo and stats (optional): if you upload a profile photo, it is shrunk to a small picture and saved only in your browser on this device. It is never uploaded to our servers. Your profile stats (times used, rating, SR BINGO games) are saved the same way.
Service details: medication reminders, shopping lists, pharmacy requests, assistance requests, and personal emergency contacts you enter.
Messages: anything you send us through the support form, the contact page, email, or phone.
Survey answers: your ratings and optional comments in our short visitor survey. Survey answers are stored on our server without your name, email, or any visitor ID.
Delivery address and orders: the street address and ZIP code you enter to find stores or laundromats, the store you choose, your items, your preferred delivery time, and any notes for your shopper.
My Circle (family & friends): names, relationships, and mobile numbers of emergency contacts and other people you add. These are saved in your browser on this device. When a family member or friend pays for your order, their name, relationship to you, and the time they agreed to pay are included with the order so our staff know who paid. In this demo, trip links and payment PINs are shown on screen and are not sent as texts. When texting is turned on, we will send only the messages you ask us to send, through a texting provider.
Payment and phone: entered on Stripe's secure checkout page. Stripe shares your name, phone number, and payment status with us so we can deliver your order. We never receive your full card number.

2. Information collected automatically

Browser storage: we use your browser's local storage (similar to cookies) to keep you signed in, remember whether the one-time guest pass was used, remember your last location for weather, remember whether you've taken the survey, and remember your accessibility settings (such as text size and high contrast). This stays on your device.
Location (only if you allow it): if you tap "Show My Weather & Map", your browser asks permission to share your approximate location. It is used only to show local weather and a map, and you can turn it off at any time in your browser settings.
Anonymous visit counts: to understand how the site is used, we record a random visitor ID created in your browser, which pages and features you open, your screen size (phone, tablet, or computer), and the name of the website that linked you here. We do not store your name, email, or IP address with these counts, and they are deleted automatically after 90 days. If your browser sends "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control," nothing is recorded.
Server logs: our hosting provider (Google Firebase) automatically records basic technical information, such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure.

3. Services we rely on

To provide certain features, your browser connects directly to these providers, each of which has its own privacy policy:

Google Firebase and Google Cloud: host this website and store anonymous visit counts and survey answers.
Google Maps Platform: receives the address or ZIP code you enter, to find nearby stores and laundromats.
Stripe: processes payments, card holds, and receipts for grocery orders.
Google Fonts: provides the lettering used on the site.
Open-Meteo: provides weather. Receives your approximate coordinates only if you share your location.
OpenStreetMap: shows the local map. Receives your approximate coordinates only if you share your location. It also provides the street map on the Track Rides & Groceries demo, which shows a sample route and never uses your location.
cdnjs (Cloudflare): delivers the map software used on the tracking screen.

4. How we use information

To provide the features you ask for, such as reminders, grocery deliveries, laundry information, pharmacy requests, and assistance.
To charge your card for the actual store receipt plus the driver fee after your groceries are bought.
To answer your questions and support requests.
To understand what works and what doesn't, using anonymous visit counts and survey results, so we can improve the service.
To keep the site secure and prevent misuse.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

5. Health information

Medication names and pharmacy notes can be sensitive. Please share only what is needed for your request. This website is a convenience tool and is not a substitute for advice from your doctor or pharmacist. In an emergency, call 911.

6. Your choices

Delete your data: because most data is stored in your browser, you can remove it at any time by signing out and clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Location: you can decline or revoke location access at any time.
Survey: the survey is always optional. Choose "Not now" to skip it.
Questions or requests: contact us (below) to ask what information we hold about you, or to ask us to correct or delete it.

7. Children

Shoppers Retreat is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

8. Security

The site is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection. No website can be perfectly secure, so please use a password you don't use anywhere else and keep your device protected.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services change. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised.
